PostSubject: Music, Meringues and Myself.   Tue Jan 15, 2013 10:43 pm

Ivy didn't make a big entrance- She didn't come in through the main entrance. Why would anyone? Her eyes flickered down to the gown she was wearing. It would have been elegant on anyone- Except for her. As a small 12 year old, she just didn't seem to have the curves to fill out the right places in this dress, so the dress hung limply off her lips down to the floor. What was her mother thinking, sending her this dress? Perhaps she's hoped I've grown. Fat chance. It seemed when Mother Nature was bestowing the gifts of a maturing body, she had missed out Ivy.

To be honest, she had briefly considered skipping out on this whole thing, but it only happened once in a blue moon. Or so she's heard. Besides, Jasmine would have her case if she didn't turn up. So, plan for tonight. Sneak in through a side entrance? Check. Eat dinner and stay hidden, then escape. "Sounds like a good plan," Ivy nodded, satisfied. Slowly, she glanced up from beneath the curtain of hair that had once again fallen in front of her face- Largely due to the absence of her usual hairband, to check that no one was close enough to notice her movements. How embarrassing would it be if someone saw me? Or worse- Demetri. The girl didn't know why she was thinking of him this second, or why she was concerned about his opinion for her, but it was ridiculous.

Hastily, she inched over towards a table which held various desserts, and selected a few meringues to balance on her plate before retreating into the shadows, though her cream dress hardly helped with that.

Demetri had came in through the main entrance almost having been scared to his wits when his friends jumped at him. Really could these guys just say hello to his face like a normal person rather than almost tackling him to the ground in greeting? He straightened his jacket before looking down at his pants, they weren't that baggy and they weren't that clinging. It was just right. He then proceeded to fix up his tie and jacket, grumbling at how his friends messed it up when they pounced him and said blokes just laughed it off. Prats. But they were his friends and he loved them. Okay that went a bit too emotional he thought before shaking his head, giving them each a brohug and occasionally a fist bump before looking around, his eyes straying to the table laden with food.

Hey he was a guy and when there was food well he took the opportunity to have some on this rare occasion. He kicked himself up from his place on the wall, moving over to the table and picked a particularly delicious pastry delight to nibble on before coming back to gorge on his desire for food. Yes, Jasmine would probably berate him for it but it was his way and he wasn't gonna let her take that! Never! Demetri's brows furrowed when he spied someone from the corner of his eye, having trouble carrying their plate what with their dress. He moved over and took the plate from her, smiling brightly, "Thought you needed some help" he purred out before looking her over, his eyes widening in surprise. It's Ivy his mind said but that piece of information took hours for him to ingest. "I-ivy?" he began sounding nervous. This was his bestest friend and boy did she look beautiful, despite what she might think, "Y-you're wearing a dress?" Stupid Demetri! Stupid stupid stupid! he thought to himself, growling mentally at his stupidity.

She was quite enjoying herself, casually eating the meringues and just watching everybody dance or talk to each other. I think I look learn to like this, Ivy thought to herself, a small smile playing on her face. It wouldn't seem like much to anyone else, but it was fun to watch how people act while they talked. You could learn a lot from their little involuntary gestures and expressions. She was so engaged in watching an animated girl conversing with her friend that she did not notice the boy that was so close to her until-

"Thought you needed some help"

Ivy looked to her hands in shock, missing the familiar weight of the plate on her hands. Then her eyes flitted up to see a pair of familiar orbs gazing back at her in what could be best described as pure, utter shock. Woah. And what was he wearing? He actually looked quite good in the formal wear, unlike herself. Her smile dimmed a little as she heard what was coming out of his mouth, and she shook her head. "I'm a girl, can't I wear a dress to a dance?" The girl muttered, crossing her arms. Of all the people that could have seen her today, why Demetri?

No, it wasn't that she didn't want to see him.. It just was, why now? When she definitely didn't look her best? I should have stayed in the dorm.

Demetri had almost let his grip on the plate slip but he regained a bit of his brain to tighten his grip, his throat and mouth becoming instantly dry. His gaze swept her, looking her from top to bottom before blushing, "Oh did you just realize that now? What gave it away penknife girl? The long hair?" he said in a sarcastic, teasing and friendly tone before his eyes widened yet again, "Your hair is long! Why didn't you tell me?" he said with a pout before taking a meringue from Ivy's plate, chomping down on it, "I just realized my best friend is a girl. The horror!" he said playfully. He was hoping she'd smile that mesmerizing smile of hers. If only she knew what he wanted to really say. But no he wouldn't ruin a friendship this good for the chance of being rejected and yeah. Stop thinking that Demetri. Serious. When was he ever serious?

Ivy grinned mischievously, before molding her expression to mimic that of shock. She ran a hand down her hair slowly, as if in disbelief, "I know right? I mean, I thought I was normal, then I woke up and this was on my head!" The girl lifted up a handful of black hair, gesturing to it wildly, playing along. Shaking her head, Ivy fell prey to a fit of laughter, before she managed to calm herself down and straighten again, her cheeks flushed. Then, the horror.

"You... You ate my meringue!" Ivy exclaimed in mortification, pointing an accusing finger at the boy. She watched as his jaw moved, crushing the bits of the meringue, before he swallowed it. That was chocolate! Her favourite! Out of all the meringues he could have taken, he had to take chocolate, didn't he? Huffing slightly, she reached forward and snatched the plate from his hands, cradling it protectively. "There there my lovelies, mommy's got you," Ivy crooned, before glaring playfully up at Demetri just in time to tune in and catch his last words.

"I'm your best friend?!" The girl squealed excitedly, dumping the plate back on the table to give him a tacklehug. Although she wouldn't admit it, she wanted to be more than a best friend, but what? And what if he didn't want it?

He pouted dramatically and brought a finger up to wipe an invisible tear from his eye, "I thought you were normal too! You and I have been living a lie penknife" he said with a sniffle before he burst into a deep laughter, laughing along with her, his heart fluttering as he heard her melodious laugh. He raised an eyebrow at the flushed cheeks his mouth opening to say something before the plate was snatched away.

"But it was so scrumptious Ivy! You just had to pick chocolate! You know you got me hooked on chocolate when you bought me the pudding" he whined as he tried to get the plate from her hand. "They are not babies! They are food and meant to be in my stomach noooow!"

He gave out a small yelp at the sudden tackle hug, wrapping his arms around her waist to hold them steady. "You almost toppled us over penknife!" he exclaimed with a whine before chuckling, nuzzling his nose into her hair, "Course you are. Don't tell my sister though" he said with a snicker before letting his lips fall to her ear, "Care for a dance?"

His laugh sent shivers running down her spine, and Ivy found herself wanting to hear more of his laugh. What was this? Her emotions were running amuck all over the place, confusing her, and the barricades she had once placed around herself were slowly being torn down, brick by brick by the boy. What was this? That was one question she wanted to find the answer too, and yet, it seemed impossible to.

"No, no. These are my precious babies. And you know what Demetri?"[i] Ivy smirked, pausing slightly, [i]"You're a guy, babies don't go into guys stomachs." With that said, she grabbed the last meringue and shoved it into her mouth, swallowing it after a few good chews.

[OOC: Sorry for this awkward cut in the middle which really doesn't flow with the post, but I reaaally wanted to get that part in! xD

She felt a shy smile creep over her lips as she nodded mutely, straightening her dress. "Um, I can't really dance though," Ivy whispered, looking down in embarrassment.

A thousand things rushed along his head when they laughed together. How silly he acted around her. How his heart beats when he hears her laugh. How he always want to put his arms around her. Maybe Eve was right maybe he did like her best friend just a tad bit much than he was supposed to. He felt his heart constrict then and there. They were best friends. He couldn't ruin it for either of them. At least Eve gets her part of the bet he thought, flashing back to the time they had a bet over how he'll eventually realize he does like Ivy.

He stared at Ivy solemnly and intensely before he cracked a grin, tuning back to her words before letting out a silly gasp "B-but!" pouts before grumbling, having himself leave speechless. He shook his head and took her hands, wrapping it around his neck as his own moved back to her waist. "Don't worry I won't cry out in pain when you step on my toes or well try to" he joked, giving her one of his heart melting smiles, "Just for me? A dance please?" he said beginning to sway them to the music.

"One dance," Ivy whispered, interlocking her fingers behind his neck, "just for you." Her own words echoed about in her head as she felt his arms guide her out to the floor, mingling with his words, running over each other. As if on cue, as cliched as it was, the song before had just ended and a new one started playing. The song was an instrumental, lead by just one single lead violin, with the harp playing accompaniment. The song tugged at the unknown emotion within her, and compelled the girl to lift her eyes from Demetri's chest to meet his eyes. Her lips no longer wore that small quirky smile of hers, but was curved slightly downwards. She didn't look sad, nor frustrated. It just was that way.

The harmony of other violins blended in, joining the first one in the song it sang, it weaved around her- Around them.

What was this?

Demetri's lips quirked upward a the sudden change of music though it did pull at something in his heart. He held her closer to him, wondering if she noticed that. He closed his eyes listening to the violin's tune before opening them and looking down at Ivy, just as she looked up at him. They're eyes locked and he offered her a confident yet nervous smile at the same time before it fell seeing her mouth curled downwards. Did he do something?

He merely sighed before drawing her close again, resting his chin on her head as they continued dancing and as the song ended, he looked to the side to find a friend of his that knew of his infatuation with the girl he held in his arms now. He moved to nod and his friend went to the man that controlled the music to do a requested song.

He didn't move and merely listened and kept on dancing when it was played, purposely diverting his eyes away from Ivy's.

Ivy didn't know what had happened, but she found herself hugged by Demetri when the song faded out, and she discovered that she liked it this way. Sighing, she let a contended smile cover her lips as she rested her cheek against his chest, closing her eyes and letting his movements guide her feet. When the new song came on, Ivy found herself stiffening; The lyrics spoke to her in a way, and she found herself dragging her eyes upwards. A frown creased her forehead when she noticed he was looking away. Hey, Ivy reached one hand up slightly to tap his chin, Is everything okay? The words that came out were so gentle, so unlike her- Yet they couldn't seem to speak what her eyes were asking: Am I lucky? She wasn't sure how to say it, and she was just so scared, of all the things that could happen. But- there were also the things which could happen that prompted what she did next. Without thinking, she stopped dancing and tiptoed slightly, planting a feather light kiss on his cheek.

He felt the small tap on his chin, letting out a small sigh, he had closed his eyes, not wanting to meet her gaze. It was silly. He didn't even answer her question, afraid that his voice might falter and he'll make himself a stupidity again. He was oh so tempted to turn to her and answer just to hear that soft sweet voice she rarely uses, to gaze into her eyes and to make her smile. But he was afraid. He sucked up a deep breath when the song almost came to an end and turned to her, stiffening at the sudden feel of lips on his. It had meant to be a simple kiss on the cheek that he knew but that didn't stop him from feeling a surge of joy flow through his veins. He overcame his shock and held her closer than ever before, kissing her deeply, hoping that she would feel the emotions he felt through it. It was just a simple kiss. Not open mouthed no. But simple and full of love. Their kiss.

Her eyes widened with shock as her lips connected with his. It didn't take long for her to get over her shock, because she found herself winding her arms around him in an embrace. Fate had given her the nudge to what she hadn't dared to do, and she found herself loving this. There were no cliched fireworks that erupted as they kissed, but she felt as if she had been wrapped in this warm deep red velvet. There were no ways to describe this, other people's words couldn't describe this. Because what she felt was simply hers and his. Their kiss.

Finally, Ivy pulled away slightly, her lips parted to suck in air. No longer a frown sat on them, but a big, wide smile. She could feel prying eyes on them, but they didn't matter. People could talk, they could gossip, but they couldn't change what had happened. It was theirs, and theirs only.

Demetri had mentally let out a sigh of relief as they kissed. All his worries and insecurities washing away. She was here in his arms and boy did he love it. To think earlier at the beginning of the dance he was fretting over how she won't like him. How he'd ruin their relationship. How she didn't feel that way/ But that was all washed away with that simple kiss. Their kiss. Oh how he loved repeating that.

He rested her forehead on hers, grinning down widely at her. He didn't mind the stares, at least he was with her. Oh now that was mentioned... He looked Ivy right into the yes and looked serious, "Mine?" he said hesitantly and nervously, afraid that she might actually say no or regret what had happened.

Ivy shook her head gently, her smile still on her lips. "No, mine."

"... Lucky I'm in love with my best friend."
