A Creepy Expedition [OPEN]

Rinoa was out for a walk, thought she'd go out for a change since she was always roaming around inside the academy.

She started walking and eventually her feet reached the western part of the Mines. It was her first time being in there. She felt cold since the place was misty, her eyes roamed around the area, she could hear the rustling sound of the wind entering the small holes that can be found in the walls.

Suddenly, when she continued to take a few steps, she felt as if someone's behind her. She looked back and saw a silhouette standing behind her.

"Who's there?" she asked bravely slowly reaching out for her wand.

Gino was running as fast as he can until he tripped right in front of Rinoa. He was breathing heavily and tries to catch his breath for a couple of times already. His heart was beating fast and he was getting sweaty all over.

He wiped his sweat on his forehead and stood up. "Hey! Rinoa right? Nice bumping into you here. This place gives me the creeps!"

He was brushing off the dust from his clothes and fixing his hair. He noticed that he had a scratch on his knee because of the sudden fall.

"What am I to do? I am such a klutz." he frowns and sighed. He turned to Rinoa and asked "What are you doing here?"

"That's what I'd like to know too, the two of you." Ceravane spoke up, sounding much sharper than she intended too. The young woman emerged from one of the many tunnels, holding up her wand to cast Lumos. Her brows furrowed as she eyed the two, one perhaps slightly older than the other. She wasn't really mad, but insanely worried. What were they thinking? Didn't they know the Shadows were back? And yet, they still had the nerve to come down here, of all places!

A quick glance at her wrist watch only served to heighten her worries. It was close to nightfall, and their curfew if she remembered clearly was just around an hour away. "Do you even know what could have happened?" So many bad things could have happened, and the scenarios played out in front of her mind. Stifling a shudder, she marched forward, her wand still casting a steady glow of light in a circle around her.

Before Rinoa could even react to Gino, she saw a gleaming light approaching them. The light came closer and closer and she finally saw Ceravane, a member of the Ministry of Magic, that's all she knows. She looked at her watch and thought "Oh, this late already?".

"Pardon me, Ms. Lee. I was just out for a short walk. I wasn't sure how I got in here." Rinoa replied. She then diverted her eyes to Gino and asked "What about you? What are you doing here?".

Gino still catching his breath replied "Same as you Rinoa. I was just out taking a walk since I'm new to this and all. Then I got way beyond this point and suddenly I felt kinda cold. I knew this place was misty, cold and all but that was different." He paused for a while and took a deep breath.

"I saw something creepy back there! There's this huge shadow like creature that suddenly appeared. Good thing I was far from it's reach. So I ran as fast as I can since I can sense it being awfully dangerous to deal with. Freakishly dark aura!" he explained.

Cera waved a hand dismissively at the girl, shooting her a small smile to let her know she wasn't really mad, before turning to listen to the boy. As he spoke, her smile disappeared, only to be replaced by a troubled frown. She had heard tales when she was younger about creatures lurking about in the underground places, but she had never seen one before. "Let me see your knee," Cera muttered distractedly, still shooting furtive glances down the passage way that he came from. She quickly stopped the current spell on her wand, sending them into semi darkness for a bit. "Sorry, I just need to.." Cera trailed "I promise it won't hurt?" She gestured at his knee, silently asking for permission to heal it.

When Rinoa understood the situation, relieved to see a smile from Cera, but started to get worried from what she just heard from Gino, she now revealed her wand and chanted "Lumos" just right after the light went out from Cera's wand.

Rinoa's wand produced gleaming light and said "Here, let me help" she offered the light to Cera who's currently looking at the boy's injury.

"I wonder what got into you" she said while looking at Gino, a little worried.

"Go ahead please." Gino nodding in approval to Cera. "It sure kinda stings." He was getting uncomfortable from the wound he got.

He began to feel calmer by the moment just being with the two girls. "I really don't know Rinoa. The next thing I know after I saw that hideous dark monster was too flee for my life." he replied as he looked at Rinoa's worried face.

His body was shaky and the image of the dark shadow kept flashing in his mind. He swallowed hard and felt some chills coming up to his spine.

Cera murmured a quick thanks at the girl before turning back to the boy. She quickly made a motion with her wand and muttered a spell beneath her breath. As she did, the raw edges of the wound started to fuse together slowly. "That ought to do it." She smiled reassuringly at the boy before standing up, marching closer towards the direction he came from. "Stay there," Cera turned her head slightly over to the two before peering down the tunnel. The boy was right, though she couldn't see anything yet, she could feel a dark, cold presence lurking somewhere further down.

"Elementus Fire!" A small controlled blue jet of flame sprung from her wand tip, and Cera quickly raised her hand to mark a large 'X' on the boulder beside the path. She quickly lowered her wand, not wanting to attract anymore attention from what could be lurking there. Just as she turned to head back to them, she froze. What was she doing? She couldn't just leave things like that! "Barricado." A shower of rocks tumbled down in that area and slowly piled upon each other to completely block the passageway. She would have to trace back to the start of that passage one day and seal that off too.

Rinoa stayed with Gino as instructed by Cera. Watching Cera walked farther, she felt really uneasy. When she couldn't see Cera anymore she took a step just so she could see her and maybe watch her back.

"Stay close" she whispered to Gino. She then heard the sound of rocks falling somewhere near Cera, since she couldn't see what Cera's doing clearly, she grabbed Gino's wrist and said "Let's go on check her" and started running on Cera's direction.

Gino was stunned. "Wait! Are you sure?! The woman told us to stay here. It might be dangerous if we followed her." he replied.

Still thinking of what happened to him earlier and the intensity of the dark aura he felt, he was quite sure that pursuing the deady shadow would mean immense damage on their part. "Come on Rinoa. Don't make haste on your decisions. It really is dangerous to go out there. Who knows what will happen." he tried to explain the intensity of the shadow he saw to Rinoa.

He had good faith with the woman who went on to check the dark shadow. Holding Rinoa by the arm he told her "I know she's a powerful witch. She can handle it herself. Maybe we should ask for help?"

Cera turned around to make her way to the two kids, but she met them about halfway the distance. "Didn't I tell you to stay there?" The woman asked, slightly confused and annoyed. She did tell them, did she? Or was it just another one of her imaginative episodes? No, she was sure she told them to stay put. Sighing, Cera shook her head and placed one hand on her hip and arched her eyebrow. "You know, if something had actually happened, you two could have gotten hurt."

Rinoa met Cera halfway. She was glad Cera was alright she smiled but immediately frowned right after hearing what Cera said, "The place is creepy and dark, and I heard some noise, it was just my reflexes that I had to go and check out, you know. I do not care what may have happened if something came out, you made me worry..." Rinoa explained.

"I'm sorry for not listening to you but I just could not stand there and wait" she added looking trembled and worried.

"I was just dragged here by Rinoa." Gino replied with a sigh and looked down.

As he was about to raise his head up, a mist suddenly appeared covering the ground. He slowly looked at the direction where Cera came from and found a big shadowy creature nearing them. It was not the same dark creature he saw before, maybe its minion or some sort, but the aura of the creature was definitely weaker from the first one he saw.

The ground trembles as the creature took each step going to their direction. As the image of the creatures becomes clearer, he saw a somewhat troll-like beast. It was around nearing 8 feet in height and was really big enough to cover the path in front of them. It had a really foul odor and was holding a big club by the right hand. He was swinging it carelessly hitting the walls of the mines.

"Ah-err.. Guys, quit the dialogue and look ahead!" Gino exclaimed.

Cera shook her head, before waving a hand at the girl. "Well, thanks for worrying, but I can handle myself." She said, rather amused. As the boy spoke, she looked at him, but was taken aback at the queer expression on his face. It was a mask of silent shock maybe, even fear. What was wrong? Cera frowned, waving a hand in front of his face, "Hellooo," But he didn't seem to pay any attention to her. He just stared at some spot behind her, frozen, almost like a statue. Maybe something really is wrong, Cera thought, but it was cut short when the boy yelled, a few seconds after a foul stench filled the cavern and invaded her nostrils.

Wrinkling her nose, Cera whipped around, her wand already out and pointed straight at... whatever the hell it was. Damn it! If that thing kept swinging it's weapon around like some golf club, the chances of the cavern collapsing on them were pretty high. She had to get the kids out safely. "Take the boy with you, do whatever magic it takes to keep you safe and whatever you do, do NOT come back here." Cera ordered them, no hint of joviality in her voice now. Without waiting to see if they followed orders, Cera pointed her wand at the thing and casted, "Elementus Fire!" This time, it was no controlled flame that sprung out from the tip of her wand, but a large roaring jet of orange fire

Upon hearing the ground trembled, Rinoa felt uneasy. She then heard Gino shouted and looked ahead. She was shocked to see a huge creature in front of them swinging it's weapon here and there, making the walls of the mines collapse. Then she immediately recovered when she smelled the foul stench covering the place, "Ughhh... What's that smell?" she mumbled.

She then saw Cera positioned her wand against the creature. Everything happened so fast. Rinoa was holding her wand from the start. Then Rinoa heard what Cera instructed clearly and grabbed Gino's hand swiftly "Let's go!" she shouted intending to run heading the opposite way. This time, she listened to Cera as she already understands what Cera's capable of, she's still worried for Cera but she thought that Gino, the younger student, needs to be protected.

She waved her wand swiftly and casted a "Protection Spell" to Gino and to herself. A gleaming light engulfed the two. "This would somewhat protect them in the meantime" she thought.

Looking stunned for a minute, Gino was not himself as the creature attacks them. He felt someone grabbed him by the hand and pulls him in the opposite direction of the creature.

Upon regaining his senses and guts, the ground shook once more, a lot more intense than the last one. The creature was swinging and hitting the walls and ceiling of the mines in no order at all. This has caused some parts of the ceiling to collapse. Gino ran as fast as he could away from coming dangerous clash between Cera and the creature behind them. Unfortunately, the path in front of them was quickly blocked by falling debris and boulders.

"Crap! Now what?!" getting somewhat annoyed from their current situation, Gino thinks of possible ways to get out of the mines safely but the path was completely blocked. He points his wand at the boulders and casts "Fire Blast!" but nothing happened. He then casts another spell "Windstorm!" still, nothing happened.

He lets go from Rinoa's grip on his hand. "This is useless Rinoa. There is no other way out. There is one thing we could do if we want to get out of this alive. I think we should go help out Cera. If there's one way out of here, it should be beyond that creature!"

Cera smirked slightly as the creature roared with pain, having being hit by the fire in his left shoulder. It roared and lumbered over to her, moving faster than she could have thought. Growling, it raised it's club and smashed it right on the spot where she had been standing. Cera narrowed her eyes and threw herself to the side, landing on the ground nimbly. Where had this thing come from? Surely the Ministry or the Headmaster would have known if there was a creature hidden somewhere along in the mines under the castle! She had heard tales, yes, but up until now, she had only thought them to be just that- mere tales.

Suddenly, from the tunnels ahead came a deep rumble, the unmistakable sounds of rocks and roofs collapsing. Cera's eyes widened- The students! Half frantic, she turned around, as if she could hope to see two safe small figures in the deep darkness. That was when she let her guard down. The creature's club swung at her exposed back, and Cera only turned in time to take the worst of it on her shoulder- The force sending her sprawling to the ground and seeing stars for a few seconds.

Gritting her teeth, she grabbed the wand that she had dropped. Time to end this "Be Gone!" A bright jet of dark blue light shot out from the tip of the wand, and hit the creature square in it's chest. It let out an earthshaking roar- and crumbled into nothing. If she didn't know better, she would have thought it melted back into shadows, as if it were one. Now that's a thought.

Gladly, the two managed to dodge falling debris and boulders. Upon seeing that the path was now blocked she went into her deep thoughts thinking the next move. Then heard Gino's words.

"Yes, right" Rinoa answered quickly. "How could I leave someone behind and save myself" This thought has been bugging her all this time from the moment she and Gino left Cera to face the monster alone.

Rinoa and Gino, now running towards Cera's direction heard the earthshaking roar. She then run as fast as she could this time. When the two arrived at Cera's location, Rinoa's eyes roamed around and immediately asked Cera "What happened here? Are you alright?"

"Is it over?" Rinoa added.

As Rinoa approved of his plan, Gino went inot battle mode. Then he quickly ran back to Cera to help her defeat the rampaging creature. But as he got there, the creature was nowhere to find. "I guess it's already over. Geez!"

He turned to Cera and asked. "So where do we go now? The path was completely blocked off. We have no other choice but to go straight ahead. Am I right?"

Cera groaned slightly as she pushed herself off the floor unsteadily. Ouch, her shoulder really took a number. The woman lifted it slightly, rolling it to get rid of some of the discomfort. "Just an ache, it'll go away in a few days." She mumbled, picking up her wand again. In spite of the whole situation, she found herself sparing two laughs for the boys obvious disappointment. Amused, Cera tilts her head to the side, and replies in a teasing manner. "I could apparate us out of here, but what's the fun in that?"

Rinoa noticed Cera's hurt and immediately blamed herself "We should have never left you alone" she said. "Looked at what happened." Rinoa added as she approached Cera.

"Fun? Are you sure you are okay to continue walking? I mean I think we need to tend at your wound as soon as possible. Don't you think?" Rinoa asked.

"Lightatius" she chanted and flicked her wand. Suddenly, a magical orb of light appeared illuminating the dark area.

"I don't see any exit nearby" Rinoa said after carefully examining the only path they can take.

"Obviously, there is no way out of here unless we go forward." sudden chills ran down his spine, remembering what was beyond that area.

"On second thought.. err.." He mumbled. He was torn between going forward and facing what he had encoutered earlier or retreating for the meantime. He thinks that it's better to know what you're about to face rather than be clueless about it and just end up in a wasted death.

"I really don't know about you guys, the creature Cera defeated was way weaker than what I felt in in there." points further in the opposite direction.

Being as cautious as he is. He tries to thinks first of the outcome rather than heading into battle without being prepared.
