A Night of Food and Fun Empty
PostSubject: A Night of Food and Fun   A Night of Food and Fun EmptyWed Jan 16, 2013 9:53 am

Oh, this is way too good, Kyle smirked as he ran a hand through the shaggy strands of his hair. All around him were people mingling and talking, or eating. That was the whole point of this ball wasn't it? The food? It certainly looked delicious. With his ever present smile on his face, Kyle approached the dinner table like one would to do to a lover of one's heart. Ignoring the fact that his last description was really over dramatic, he snatched up a plate and picked out some choice foods for the night. The sandwiches looked good, and so did the crabcakes. Yum, crabcakes. The delightful red and white filling was carefully arranged on top of half a hollowed out egg white, with speckles of green herbs dusting the top. Without another moment, he opened wide and popped one into his mouth, savouring the flavour and texture of this delectable treat.

Now his tummy was sated, he leaned back against one of the decorated pillars, silently observing the dancing students, and some couples amongst them. Kyle came alone this time, even though he could have asked someone out if he wanted. But his eyes seemed to pass over every available girl there was, deeming them too dull, or too extravagant. He was looking for one girl only, but he couldn't seem to find her.

Yasmine smirked as she wove her way around the crowd, flashing a bright shy smile at any person she might walk pass- sometimes leaving them speechless and gaping. She didn't know why though. There were other girls like her here but they seemed to do that quite a lot more often at her. 'Must be weirdos' she thought. She grinned as she twirled around, liking the music oh so much. It was soft yet made her feel alive. Idly, her glance wandered over to her sister talking with a guy from her dorm. She idly remembered that most Liquidum mistook her for Jasmine, what with wearing the blue version of their dress and with her in red. She wandered over to the table to lurk about and well... eat.

Where could she be? Okay, Kyle admitted that his constant lookout for this particular girl was a bit on the odd side, but he wasn't as odd as some of the others he had encountered in this academy. People wove in and out of his range of vision, yet he did not catch a glimpse of the girl he was searching for. Nope, nada. Heaving a dramatic sigh, Kyle turned to the dinner table for more crabcakes- Crabcakes make everything better,- and then he saw her. She was hovering around the platters, eyeing the food. With a smile twitching the corners of his mouth, Kyle swept over to the girl from behind her, leaning over as if to survey the choices of food that had been so generously displayed for them.

"Good evening, milady." Kyle said smoothly, his voice falling a tone lower than his normal range. "I'd recommend the crabcakes. He shot her a winning smile, gesturing to the half empty platter of the beautiful crabcakes.

Yas eyed the wide array of foods, biting her lip as she did. There was so much to choose from! Most girls would have second thoughts in imbibing such food but they were skinny bitches so... Yas shook her head before eyeing the almost empty plate of crabcakes when a sudden voiced sounded from behind her. She didn't bother on turning around. Maybe he was one of those pompous asses. "Actually I was about to get one until you shocked me" she merely replied before reaching out for a plate, placing the last three remaining crabcakes into it, "I'm not sharing either nuh uh" she said as she turned around. "..." she was silent as she observed him with narrowed eyes, "Oh... it's just you" she said in a flat tone. He was one of her dormmates but she never really did get his personality just knew him by name.

"Well, then let me compliment you on your good taste in food," He remarked, eyeing the three in her plate. They were just so good. And besides, Yasmine didn't seem to mind about what she ate that much, and that was good. No one decent could ever reject these crabcakes. His expression fell slightly at her words, "..just you."

"You wound me, milady," He said jokingly, placing a hand over his heart as if it had really been paining him. "Pray tell me, what's a lovely girl like you doing alone at a dance?" Though his words were confident, they just hid the insecurities he had. Silently, he prayed hard that she came alone, and not with a guy from whom she had wandered from, tempted by the allure of the dinner table. At the end of his words, he crooked his mouth up in a charming smile, tilting his head like an inquisitive puppy.

She let a small smile grace her face before it was soon gone, "... Thank you I guess" she said before looking down at her plate, licking her lips. She was about to place one in her mouth when he spoke up.

Yasmine merely raised an eyebrow at his display before rolling her eyes and taking the crabcake into her mouth, her face morphing to an expression of delight. If there were no crabcakes present well... she'd have done something regrettable to the boy now. "Dear sir why must you ask a fare maiden like myself a question such as that?" she replied with a sharp edge to her tone and playing with his own... style of words.

"Honestly I don't even remember you"

Kyle pondered on the question for a moment, as if he was in deep in thought before letting out a low chuckle. "Is there any particular reason as to why I shouldn't, milady? To be honest, he couldn't find an answer to that. Honesty was the best policy, they said, but blurting out that he liked her was definitely not an appropriate answer to that. She'd probably kick him. In the babymaker. Now that was undesirable.

"Your honesty is very endearing,"Kyle remarked dryly, raising one eyebrow. "But if that is the case, allow me to introduce myself. Kyle Harris Alexander, at your service madam." He swept an imaginary top hat from his head and bowed a low boy, before straightening and giving Yasmine a wink.

Yas gritted her teeth before taking a bite of another crabcake, calming her nerves. Honestly this guy was getting on her nerves and she only just met him. "Oh I don't know." she started dryly, "There are a lot more pretty ladies here..." she said before casting an innocent smile at him, "that would fall for that crappy line" sshe ended, batting her eyes before laughing.

"Oh are you the Mad Hatter now as well?" she inquired sarcastically when he 'swept a top hat' and bowed. "It's a pleasure to meet you so now why don't you run along and go bother the lovely airheads over there" she said pointing over to a group of blondes, giggling at him.

Kyle smirked at Yasmine, amused by how feisty she could be. Your witty repartee intrigues me, Yasmine. And besides, 'airheads' just aren't my cup of tea." He reached over her shoulder and grabbed a cracker topped with some creamy sauce and ever so elegantly shoved it into his mouth, swallowing it. Cheese and herbs on a cracker, how nice. "Besides, I'd rather have a real conversation than one sided remarks. He wrinkled his nose in slight distaste, shooting a glance over at the girls Yasmine had been looking at and rolled his eyes, turning dismissively from them.

Yas crossed her arms, one hand still holding the plate, the other near her mouth, munching on the crabcake. He should pray that she didn't eat them all to early. "And just what is you're type of tea?Tall, dark and handsome?" she said in a bored tone as she stared out at the dance floor. Truth be told, she was rather enjoying this banter of theirs. Most people would have gone and stalked away obviously furious but he didn't. "Witty repartees count as a real conversation now?"

Kyle straightened in mock shock, raising an eyebrow at Yasmine, "Why yes! How did you know? Shaking his head, he full out laughed. Something about this girl was just so.. different from all the others. Something that made him rethink all his cynicism about fairy tales and happy endings. And yes, yes it does actually, since it carries words from two individuals, which requires an amount of thinking. That sounded weird, even as he said it. But oh well. Words out of one's mouth was like toothpaste out of the tube. You can't take them back.

Strangely enough, Yasmine found the corners of her mouth twitching upwards for a slight moment bfore willing them to go back to her bored and uncaring expression. "Oh what a shame. I would have offered my brother but he's not dark so" she said with a shrug before casting her eyes at the crowd, "Speaking of which where is he..." she mumbled more to herself before she dropped the crabcake in her hand, her jaw unhinging at the scene before her. She closed and open it repeatedly before shaking her head, "did I see what I just see?" she asked him in a state of shock, not even registering his next words.
