Clover walked into the Potions classroom before her students would filling the doorway. She took out her wand and began writing up the potion's ingredents on the board.

Bezoar
Standard Ingredient
Ground Unicorn Horn
Mistletoe Berries
She walked around the room and made sure that everyone would have an even amount of the supplies to prevent students from walking around and being out of their seats. She turned around as she heard her students walk in and begin taking their seats. "Please be seated and take out your Magical Drafts and Potions book to page 213 and look up at the board." As the room was filled she stepped up to the front of the room and began her pre lesson lecture.

"I personally think that this is one of the most essential potions out there, being poisoned isn't tea time with mumzy, it could be quite painful. So if you are carrying only five potions at a time, this better be one. This better had been one of them." She looked at all the open books, she looked down at her book and read out the instructions. "Add 1 Bezoar to the mortar, then you crush it into a very fine powder using the pestle. Add 4 measures of the crushed Bezoar to your cauldron, Add 4 measures of the crushed Bezoar to your cauldron. Heat to a medium temperature for 5 seconds, then wave your wand. Leave to brew and return in 40 minutes with Pewter Cauldron, 34 minutes with Brass cauldron and 30 minutes with copper cauldron. So which ever cauldron you purchased it will decide how quick you get to leave today. Then add 1 pinch of Ground Unicorn Horns to your cauldron. Stir 2 times, clockwise, Add 2 Mistletoe Berries to your cauldron, Stir 2 times, anti-clockwise and then wave your wand to finish it off." She gave another look at her students as she sighed she finished off the lecture "I will be walking around the room, if there is any issues. Let me know."

Sora walked in the classroom. He seated on a vacant slot and immediately noticed that ingredients were already prepared at his desk. He looked around the others and saw that ingredients for them were already prepared too. When he heard the Professor, he pulled out his Magical Drafts and Potions book from his bag. He laid the book flat on his desk and flipped the pages to page 213.

Sora looked up at the board and saw the list of ingredients. When the Professor mentioned the potion they will be brewing for today's class, a smirk curled up in Sora's lips. "Finally, a useful potion" he thought as he pulled out a copper cauldron. He felt lucky as his cauldron will take only 30 minutes to brew today's potion. Sora carefully followed the measurements of the ingredients. He began to crush the Bezoar ingredient.

Ian had been napping in the back of the classroom when the professor walked in and began her speech. He opened his eyes and stared at the front of the room while she ranted on about the importance of some dumb potion. "I shouldn't have bothered coming to class today," he complained and buried his face back into the crook of his elbow while he yawned.

Deciding that he should at least look like he was busy, he took out his cauldron and waved his wand a few times. The brass container quickly filled with some water and started to warm. He smirked and took out his potions book, it was old and had been his great grandfathers. "Think I'll follow these instructions if you don't mind," he mumbled then tossed the bezoar in whole and focused on finely grating his unicorn horn.

Ivy fumbled around in her bag for her book before dumping it onto her table, flipping it open to the correct page. She had been forced by her friends to come to this class today, for normally she wouldn't. Potions just wasn't her thing, but they had pushed, begged, bribed and even guilt-tripped her into setting foot into this class. Their argument? If you're going to ignore potions, you have to at least now how to do this simple one. As the girl propped her chin up on her hand to listen to the instructions, she idly wondered; How on Earth is this simple? Not to mention, Ivy had the unfortunate luck to be the owner of a pewter caldroun, meaning she'd have to leave at most 10 minutes later than she intended to today. Might as well get started. Reaching for the bezoar, Ivy started to grind it into a powder when out of the corner of her eye, she spied another boy just tossing in the thing whole. Can you do that? Sucks to him if the potion explodes.

Yes, she had caused a potion to explode once, and it wasn't a pretty sight. Green does not make a pretty skin color. Ivy stifled a small chuckle at the memory, before starting the heat.

Skyler removed her book from her bag in a fluid motion, turning to the correct page as her professor read the instructions aloud. Hmmm...this potion didn't look very difficult. And they were using some interesting ingredients too. As her professor droned on with the instructions, Skyler's blue eyes gained a spark, and one could almost see the wheels turning in her head. She had a pewter cauldron, so that might actually help. Considering she'd have to come back later. Glancing around the room, Skyler smirked slightly as she set about starting on her potion, and putting her plan into action.

"This should be fun." She muttered to herself, or so she thought.

After crushing the Bezoar, Sora carefully measure the said ingredient then added them into his cauldron. He set the heat to a medium temperature, waited for 5 seconds then waved his wand. The next step was to wait for the potion to brew for 30 minutes, in Sora's case since he owned a copper cauldron.

His eyes roamed around the class to simply check on how the others were doing. He sighted Ian who dumped the whole Bezoar in his cauldron. Sora lightly shook his head in disapproval. "He's up to something again" he said in mind.

Ian looked up from the small mound of unicorn horn dust that he had grated up. Satisfied with the results he glanced at the board for a moment. There was no way he was waiting that long. And only a pinch? Really? He rolled up the sleeves on his shirt and leaned carefully over his cauldron. The temperature seemed about right, so he quickly deposited a small handful of the ingredient then stepped back.

In seconds the potion rolled to a quick boil, threatening to overflow, but it did not. The color of the potion simply darkened then carried on to a gentle bubble. "Perfect," he commented and winked at the girl sitting nearest to him. "Need some help?"

Ivy started work on her own potion, carefully and slowly to ensure that she didn't end up with a mess. When she sneaked a glance around to see how others were doing, she saw that same boy again, adding too much unicorn horn powder into his potion. As it bubbled up, seeming as if it was going to overflow, Ivy stifled a small gasp. Please don't let that explode. Ivy prayed furtively. Finally, it seemed to calm down, and Ivy relaxed, turning her attention back to her own potion.

Her careful movements seemed to have put her behind the rest of the class, but that was okay. Everything was going fine- For once. As she raised her wand to wave it, a voice from her side startled her, making her drop her wand. It hit the side of her cauldron and teetered for a moment before it fell into the potion with a splash. Ivy stared as the brew changed color from a mild brown to a startling bright red, bubbling ferociously. Without thinking, Ivy plunged her hand in, desperately grabbing for her wand before anything bad happened.

"Ow! Hot!" Ivy howled in pain, yanking her hand from the cauldron, holding her wand. As she clutched the now stinging hand to her chest, she glared up at the boy that had spoken and glared at him hatefully. "You! This is all your fault!"

PostSubject: Re: Potions Lesson: Antidote to Common Poisons   Potions Lesson: Antidote to Common Poisons EmptyWed Mar 13, 2013 12:22 pm

Skyler took her time crushing up her bezoar, humming to herself as she did so, a slight grin curling her lips. It wasn't like she had her work cut out for her or anything. Crushing the bezoar wasn't very difficult, but she wanted a very fine powder to add. The brunette wasn't the ultimate best at potions, but she certainly knew her way around them for the most part. That didn't mean she hadn't made a cauldron or two explode before. But those incidents tended to be on purpose. Not that many people knew that particular tidbit.

Finally adding an amount of the brushed bezoar to her cauldron, Skyler heated it as directed and waved her wand. The potion was lighter than it was supposed to be, but Skyler ventured a guess that since it was at least the right color, it wasn't completely useless. And that she was satisfied with. Now she just needed to wait to add the unicorn horn, which was what she was really anticipating. So she cleaned up the leftover crushed bezoar, easily swiping it into a small cloth bag under her table as a commotion with some other students proved a good distraction at the time.

Stowing away the bag now containing the bezoar, Skyler decided since she had 40 minutes she was in no hurry to crush up her unicorn horn and so leaned casually against her table, blue eyes taking in the scene. She had to bite her lip to keep from laughing. She felt bad, because it had to have hurt sticking your hand in a boiling hot cauldron, but the look the girl was giving the other boy was priceless.

Leaning over her table, Skyler interrupted what might've proved to be a very entertaining fight. "You might want to go to the hospital wing and get a healing salve for that burn. Your potion seems pretty much useless now anyway." She advised quietly. It was the truth, for the most part. There could be a way to salvage the other girl's potion. But if there was, Skyler certainly didn't know it. And there was no use in trying to figure it out while the girl was in agony with her hand.

Ian stared at the cauldron as it bubbled and rapidly changed color. Well that was the worst mistake he had ever seen in his life. The boy lurched forward, prepared to grab the girl by the arm and move them both out of the way, but before he could stop her, Ivy was dipping her hand into the cauldron. "Don't! Ah you stupid girl," he sighed and slowly shook his head, "Why would you stick your hand in there?" He choose to ignore the glare and the accusatory way she addressed him.

Instead he raised his brow and tried his best to gently pull her hand away from her chest, "Let me look at it right quick. I have healing salve." He huffed and quickly dug through an assortment of strange bottles in his bag until he found a container with bright orange paste. "Use this," he instructed while uncapping the container and holding out the paste to the girl. At least it would prevent a scar from forming over the burn. "I'll fix your potion," he offered in a grumbling tone while hovering over the cauldron.

He mumbled an assortment of curses as he prodded the end of his wand at the cauldron. Maybe he could salvage the mess if he hurried quickly enough. "Have some fluxweed?" he asked, his icy silver blue eyes focusing on Skyler. Actually, he didn't feel like sticking around the class anymore, so he figured he could some how managed to bottled his potion then cause an explosion with this other students. It would be a great excuse to leave and he wanted to see how the new professor would react.

"I'm sorry, did you want that potion to explode over your sorry butt?" Ivy snapped at the boy. Wriggling her hand away from him. A shooting pain shot up her arm so she stopped her efforts and let her hand dangle by her side, after placing her wand on the table. She felt bad though, when he offered her the healing salve. I had snapped at him, and he gives me this? Ivy nodded at the older girl, before holding up the orange paste in one hand, indicating she had it already. Besides, Ivy didn't really get along well with the school's nurse, for some reason.

"Thanks," Ivy muttered towards the boy, smearing a bit of the paste on her hand. There some smarting but it quickly faded, giving her a small sort of relief. "Donxt botger with the potion, I'm failing this class anyway. One potion won't matter.

PostSubject: Re: Potions Lesson: Antidote to Common Poisons   Potions Lesson: Antidote to Common Poisons EmptyThu Mar 14, 2013 12:15 pm

Watching in slight amusement as the younger girl snapped at the boy, Ian, she recalled, from her own dormitory, whom apparently was the cause of all the commotion, Skyler shook her head and suppressed a grin. The girl was feisty, she'd give her that. It was entertaining, but Skyler was smart enough not to say it out loud, what with the girl burnt and all. She didn't think a remark like that would go over very well at the moment.

As the two bickered, Skyler added her pinch of ground unicorn horn, silently and swiftly stashing the rest away, then stirred as directed before adding the berries and stirring again as directed. Waving her wand over the potion, she wasn't surprised to see her potion looked as it was supposed to, and a flash of genius stole across her blue eyes.

Smirking, Skyler rolled her eyes at the younger boy. "Oh yes. Let me just pull out the fluxweed I happen to carry everywhere." She retorted sarcastically, but could tell they were on the same page with their thoughts, so instead, checking that the coast was clear, she summoned the other girl's flask and bottled her own potion into it. Handing it to said girl, she grinned. "Lucky for you, I can easily make this up. It's a good thing we've both got pewter." Skyler added seemingly randomly, giving the other two a look, she waved her wand under her table, concentrating since she couldn't get it wrong, and muttered the switching spell, focusing on switching the two potions. A moment later, Skyler let out a small sigh of relief as she saw her potion was safely in front of the other girl, and the one in front of her was beyond repair, but still good for what she had in mine. At least she had gotten it right. She had had trouble with the switching spell when learning it. Skyler glanced around, making sure no one seemed to be paying too much attention, and hoping no one noticed the switch, aside from the three immediate to the area.

Grinning in a triumphant sort of way, Skyler locked eyes with Ian. "I've got an idea." It really was sort of perfect, considering she had planned on it anyways. Except it was better to use this potion than her own.

PostSubject: Re: Potions Lesson: Antidote to Common Poisons   Potions Lesson: Antidote to Common Poisons EmptyFri Mar 15, 2013 3:24 am

Ian rolled his eyes at the childish retort, he knew his way around potions enough to know that if she had simply stepped back, the potion should have boiled over and been fine, but who was he to correct her statement. "I will remember that for future reference. Don't help out the catty Liquidum girl." He flashed a cheeky grin at Ivy then took back the paste and stashed it away in his bag. And, that is why I try not to run about helping others, rather ungrateful bunch around these parts.

Rolling up his sleeves a bit higher, he leaned over his own cauldron and began tossing in the remaining ingredients, he was short for time so he just doubled the amount and hoped for the best. With a glance back towards Skyler her gave her and incredulous look. "I know you have some I saw it in your bag when I sat down." He wiggled his eyebrow then laughed and returned to finishing his brew. Finally, someone one the same page as him. Ian's potion turned a rather pungent shade of green then brightened into a teal shade of blue. He waved his wand, filling up three vials of antidote which he rather hurried stuffed into his pocket. Then reaching into his bag he pulled out a new potions that was mildly blue and looked about standard for what the average student would turn in. He placed the bottle on the professors desk then calmly strolled back to his work station.

"So does that grin of yours mean that you are as fond of potions as I am?" Ian chuckled as he met eyes with Skyler, "Aye, that one's not going to tattle on us is she?" He jerked his head back towards Ivy. He figured the girl might play nice since Skyler had helped her out by donating part of her potion, something he would clearly never do. But one could never be too sure. "So what's the plan?"

Ivy rolled her eyes, at the boy before taking her seat. As she peered over the edge of the cauldron to check on her potion, she was surprised to see it looked perfectly fine. Her eyes darted up to the older girl, then to the bottle in her hands. In spite of what she had said earlier- About failing potions and not caring, she found herself giving the girl a thankful smile. Ivy leaned back in her seat, unsure of what to do now.

As her mind drifted lazily somewhere along the borders of daydreams and reality, Ivy picked up on bits of the conversation behind her. "That one," Ivy coughed, "Is right here and can hear you perfectly well." She stood up abruptly and walked to the front to hand in the bottle. "Sorry Professor, but may I be excused early? I have female problems to tend to." She didn't know what the two was planning, but there were two things Ivy was not: She wasn't a tattler, and she wasn't going to stick around to find out what would happen. Without waiting, Ivy contorted her face into one of mild pain, and grabbed her stuff before rushing out of class.

Potions Lesson: Antidote to Common Poisons Empty
PostSubject: Re: Potions Lesson: Antidote to Common Poisons   Potions Lesson: Antidote to Common Poisons EmptySat Mar 16, 2013 3:00 am

Skyler snorted. She couldn't help it. Ian was just too...well, whatever he was, he was too much of it, that was sure. Skyler wasn't sure whether to laugh at his remarks, because they really were quite witty, or offer the other girl a semi-apologetic look, considering the worst of his remarks seemed directed at her. In the end, what came out was a snort. Followed easily by a mock appalled look at the idea of him having peeked in her bag, which would have been convincing had she not rolled her eyes immediately afterward and smirked over her cauldron at him. "But since my bag catches your attention so much, I can certainly let you borrow it sometime. I myself think the purple stars would look great on you."

Blinking, Skyler watched blankly as the girl retorted and got up, turned in her potion, and then left. Arching a brow, Skyler shot a 'what was that all about?' look at Ian, and then shrugged as if it didn't really matter in the first place. Which honestly it didn't. She wasn't obligated to stick around to see the fireworks if she didn't want to. Skyler was simply curious as to whether the boy had gotten to her with what he had said. If so, Skyler hoped everyone wasn't as touchy. Shaking her head from her thoughts, Skyler turned her attention back to Ian. Shrugging lightly, she responded nonchalantly. "I guess you could say that. It's not exactly a hobby or anything, but it definitely has its merits." Finishing with a grin, it quickly morphed into a smirk as Skyler added, "Stick around and you'll see."

With that being said, the witch put on her best confused look, biting her lip in what could be misconstrued as anxiousness, but anyone who knew her well would know it was really to keep a grin from bursting forth, while pretending to think of a way to fix the potion now in front of her. Skyler lived for moments like these. If anyone who didn't know her well were to look at her, they'd think she were merely worried about her potion not being right. Stirring the mixture, Skyler reached into her ingredients seemingly without looking, and grabbed a bicorn horn, dropping it into the potion and stirring until the liquid was a shocking shade of lavender. She then turned the flame up slightly, and watched the effects. The bright purple potion started to bubble. And it didn't stop.

Making her blue eyes wide, Skyler backed away slowly until her back was pressed against the table behind her. Anyone watching would assume she had no idea what was going on with her potion. On the contrary, she knew exactly what was about to happen, and struggled to keep the anticipation out of her eyes as the bubbles now spilled over the sides of the cauldron. Another moment, and a loud BOOM! could be heard as the cauldron exploded, and anyone within a ten foot radius of Skyler's station was drenched in her concoction.

Skyler stood stock-still, seemingly too shocked to move, then she slowly looked up at her professor, blue eyes wide, lips pulled into a silent and shocked 'O'. "Oops." She offered. And her eyes grew even wider, in a comical fashion.

The moment she uttered the word, three large bubbles floated out of her mouth.

Sora was patiently waiting for his potion to brew. He laid his back on his seat when he noticed a student growled in pain. He looked at the direction where she was and saw Ian was with her. He kept observing as he picked up what seemed to happen. Good thing, Ian happen to have a healing salve and that the girl's hand did not look pretty bad.

"Ah I thought so, he's upto no good again" he sighed as he looked back to his cauldron. His potion was just about ready. He grabbed three vials to fill in with the satisfying outcome he made until a loud "BOOM!!" came out of nowhere making Sora drop the vials he had in his hands. The vials landed on the floor and shattered into pieces.

Sora looked back as he saw a female student blew her cauldron. It was fortunate for him that he was a few feet farther from where the explosion however, the back of his coat earned little splat of the girl's potion. He chuckled when he saw the large bubbles floated in her mouth when she tried to speak. Looking back at his stock, he noticed he only have one vial left to fill in with the potion he made. Sora sighed as he thought if it would be alright with the Professor. "Ah, maybe he won't mind after what just happened" he thought as he now started filling the last vial with his potion.

Ian tried to resist laughing, but couldn't help himself. He held his sides and double over as he loudly laughed. The professor looked rather annoyed, but let the noise continue for whatever reason. He didn't know why he couldn't stop, whether it was the way Ivy had went about leaving or Skyler's bag comment. Either way he was nearly rolling from laughter. Finally, feeling like he could laugh no more he took a deep breath, chuckled once more then turned to Skyler. "Alright let's do this then," he added with a wink then waited to see what the student had in mind.

His eyes nearly jumped out of his face as he saw the ingredients that the girl had in mind. Bicorn horn? Really? Was the girl off her mind? He looked wildly about the room for a safe place to take cover, gave up with the mixture rapidly began to change color and ducked behind his cauldron at the last second. He closed his eyes and certainly hoped for the best. This was going to be one hell of a sticky mess, he just knew it!

The potion was disgusting, he noted as he ran his fingers through his auburn hair. The stuff didn't smell the greatest either, but hey an explosion he wanted, and an explosion he got. Couldn't ask for much more. Maybe a new shirt or he could just stop being lazy and clean it himself. Ian slowly stood up and examined the damage done. The classroom was completely covered. Any students who were next to the cauldron had gotten their fair share of mixture. He started to laugh again, especially when he saw the look on Sora's face.

"Great job. This is certainly,"
he paused when the girl had bubbles come from her mouth. "HILARIOUS." He doubled over laughing once more and shook his head. This day couldn't possibly get any better. However, no sooner than the words left his mouth, potions around them began to explode with the sticky mixture as well. It seems that any cauldrons that were close enough, accidentally absorbed the sticky goop and they too turned bright purple. He rubbed a bit of the substance off from his cheek and started to giggle this time. Actually giggle. He couldn't help it and snorted whenever he tried to stop. "Oh you've done it now!" he shouted between laughing.

Skyler narrowed her eyes at Ian, as he cackled like a hyena, clearly more than amused by her situation. "Oh shut it you!" She told him, scowling as more bubbles issue from her mouth with every word. She wasn't actually angry or anything, but for appearance's sake, she pretended to be. Not to mention it helped with keeping her own laughter in, because Skyler had known exactly what would happen when she added the bicorn horn.

What she hadn't expected was all the potions in the room absorbing her potion and therefore turning into it as well. Skyler only had seconds to prepare herself, but even then she winced, eyes closed, at each subsequent BOOM! As all the cauldrons in the classroom exploded, showering everyone in the potion. Skyler looked around at the damage done. It looked like her class had had a potions war. Glancing back at Ian, she rolled her eyes as the boy continued to laugh, and then finally faced her professor, offering a half guilty, half hopeful smile. "Well...I bet you don't see that everyday." She stated in hope her professor would find the humor in this situation, and again, bubbles rose from her mouth with the words, and Skyler looked at them as if offended.

Potions Lesson: Antidote to Common Poisons Empty

Just as when Sora was about to scoop the potion to fill in his last piece of vial, a sudden reaction turned his potion to bubble. He turned his head towards the laughing kid then tried to look back to his cauldron once more to check on what's happening. It seems that his cauldron got some of Skyler's potion and reacted. A few seconds later, BOOM!! All the cauldron in class exploded.

The sticky mixture got into him everywhere, his coat, his cheeks, his hair, his desk. The potion was completely ruined. Sora released a sigh and felt a little annoyed at Ian's continued laughter. Then he heard Skyler's voice and when his head turned to look at her, once again, bubbles from her mouth came out. He cannot laugh this time as he was too stressed out on what today's class has turned out. Sora shook his head as he placed his hand on his forehead. "I think I'm going to need a medicine for headache" he thought.

Ian clutched at his sides, they practically ached from laughing so hard. He gasped for air and snorted. "Blimey that was bloody brilliant!" he added with a huge smirk on his face. He had planned on simply exploding a cauldron, she had revolutionized cauldron exploding.

Finally, able to keep his laughter under control he wiped a bit of goop from his bag and dug around for a small notebook. "Must remember that for extreme circumstances," he commented as he jotted down a few words. Or even not so extreme circumstances. He knew a few students that would find this type of potion quite delightful. Okay, maybe they wouldn't, but their reaction would be amusing.

Satisfied that class was officially over he shouldered his bag and strolled towards the door, but not before stopping by Sora and quickly ruffling his hair. "Tough luck kid," he winked at the boy then walked away, only pausing to toss a salute in Skyler's direction.

Callum walked into a place that had been sculpted well in his memory, he came to the academy, due to the fact that Professor Harrison could keep an eye on him, she had been close friends with Callum's father, and she had been more of a mother than his own mother, heck she had even been a better father. He walked into the back of the room and smirked as he heard all the commotion near the front of the class. He knew this potion extremely well, when he went and stayed with the Harrison's this summer, he stayed the week she did potion camp. Callum looked as a potion exploded in the room, which slightly annoyed him, he knew that Professor Harrison would have her handful. He took out his wand and enchanted a mop in the corner so it would start cleaning the mess. He quickly crushed his bezoar, he did not slow down throwing measures of bezoar and standard ingredient in his copper cauldron. As his potion was halfway finished he waved his wand and waited for his thirty minutes to pass.

Professor Harrison tromped around the room, saving disaster after disaster. As Miss Seeker burnt her hand, she then took her wand and levitated the wand out of the cauldron "Never and I mean never put your hand in a boiling potion." Mister Salvatore had already apply healing salve, she was proud knowing that her students were listening to her and started carrying healing potions and magical brews, As she crossed the room, she stopped in her tracks as she heard several loud explosions, she turned slowly with frustration on her face, several cauldrons had gotten oozed from a first exploding cauldron. She began walking to cauldrons, sticking the tip of her wand, giving it a few good circular motions, making the potion reverse itself back to before it exploded, so no one had to remake it. Callum had already enchanted a mop, she moved it swiftly across the room and began cleaning every inch that had slime on it. She tapped her wand and replaced her students dirty robes with new ones.

She flipped her hair backwards and panted out "Now, if you all would not destroy this class, I would much appreciate it. Now if anyone has a question, speak before you do anything." She looked at Ian Salvatore's potion and smirked "As I appreciate on how quickly you did it, you did the quick in an emergency brew, we are brewing the long step by step potion." She looked at the cauldron's and sighed, seeing on how difficult it was for some students she looked around the room "Now, since we are trying to blow up the class, if you have after you all have waited, we will be doing the second half together, so no one can have any problems." She looked around in the room and observed all of the students that had finished and those who had not, it seemed that there was the same people that had been messing up potions, she was thinking more and more to have some potions tutoring for the people who didn't quite grasp the art of potions.
